Demand Planner

Job Introduction

The Demand Planner is responsible for a variety of activities including demand forecast analytics, customer collaboration support, Sales & Operations Planning reporting and process adherence, and special project support.

Role Responsibility

  • Manage a monthly rolling 18-month demand forecast at the item level, for an assigned group of customers, within the ERP Demand Planning module
  • Review historical sales and shipment trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results
  • Work directly with key customer accounts to develop greater insights and opportunities to improve forecasts and stock availability
  • Prioritize key account shipment needs as necessary
  • Coordinate forecasts on product cutovers, future assumptions, and new product launches
  • Analyze actual sales and emerging trends in comparison to forecasts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to understand all impacts to the forecast, including customer order book plans, seasonality, industry statistics, etc.
  • Supports the monthly consensus process including S&OP meetings with internal stakeholders
  • Communicate with supply planning to provide information on monthly changes to demand
  • Provide input in developing inventory strategies and safety stocks on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs
  • Prepare and monitor forecast KPI's on a monthly and quarterly basis, taking corrective actions, as necessary
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to implement process improvements

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Business or relevant experience in lieu thereof; advanced degree preferred
  • APICS/CPIM certification or significant work towards certification, preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in forecasting or planning within a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail as well as ability to manage large amounts of data
  • Strong organization skills and ability to effectively multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Expert level of knowledge of Microsoft Suite tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce and ERP software
  • Ability to work well independently and in team settings
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Able to work well under pressure
