Human Resources Manager

Job Introduction

Role purpose

To actively support the operation of the business by providing a comprehensive, effective and professional HR service to all employees through best practice and ensuring compliance with all company processes and policies and employment legislation. To manage the day to day activities of the Operations team and provide support and guidance in conjunction with HR Advisers in the absence of the Head of Department where necessary within designated limits

Role Responsibility

Duties

  • Manage day to day activities of the HR Operations team to ensure that internal customers receive focused and comprehensive HR advice and support in line within organisational policies, procedures and legal requirements
  • Operational management of Occupational Health provider to ensure the company meets its health and safety obligations by managing referrals, and liaising with all parties involved to reduce absence
  • Manage and oversee processing of the UK and European payrolls, through effective supervision of Payroll Clerk and acting as the escalation point in case of issues and problems, including working with the managed service provider to ensure the required service levels are being maintained.
  • Manage relationships with external providers, including, but not restricted to Payroll, Occupational Health, EAP to ensure that agreed service standards are delivered in line with SLA, agreements meet business needs and any issues are dealt with promptly and efficiently
  • Supervise and develop direct reports providing guidance and support where needed
  • Devise, maintain and monitor HR metrics on a monthly basis, analysing trends and making corrective recommendations to the Head of HR and Senior leadership team.
  • Produce management information on an ad hoc basis to support the business.
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement of HR processes, keeping them under regular review to ensure they meet changing business needs and become an expert source for HR systems and processes they remain in line with current legislation
  • Support Health and Safety initiatives, as required, attending Health & Safety meetings in absence of Head of Department
  • Keep up to date with developments in employment legislation and human resources best practice to ensure continuous development and improvement
  • Contributing to ad hoc projects as and when business needs dictate

 

Employee relations

 

  • Provide support as required on HR advice on key issues such as Disciplinaries, Grievances and Employee health issues, flexible working requests whilst ensuring legislation requirements are met, policy and best practice are followed
  • Provide support to Managers/ Human Resources Advisors and Team Leaders as required in Disciplinary, Grievance and Capability matters, including conducting investigations, attending hearings to achieve the optimum outcome

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications & experience

  • Degree educated, preferably in HRM or business related subject (or qualified by experience)
  • Minimum Graduate CIPD essential, with in-depth understanding of employment law
  • Previous experience of managing people with proven ability in team development
  • Track record of successfully managing a diverse workload
  • Previous HR and payroll experience essential
  • Experience of working in manufacturing environment essential
  • Previous experience of handling complex employee relations issues, with the ability to analyse and provide objective and balanced recommendations
  • Used to prioritising own workload and meeting deadlines
  • Innovative and able to identify continuous improvement strategies to enhance departmental performance
  • Computer literate, with sound knowledge of Microsoft packages and HR systems
