Senior Purchasing Manager

Job Introduction

As a Senior Purchasing Manager at HydraForce, you are a critical link in the Materials team and to the operations. The Senior Purchasing Manager will provide hands on leadership with the purchasing team including translating the needs of our business to our supply base. This partnership allows us to create worldwide customer delight by providing the highest quality products and the most responsive customer support in the world at a globally competitive cost.

As a Manager, your everyday work will consist of using a vast array of technical, analytical, and management skills to:

monitor market movements that impact procurement

negotiate supplier pricing and contacts

develop business-building ideas and cost-saving opportunities

build effective working relationships with suppliers

manage and develop purchasing team including day to day purchasing activities

participate in developing & executing strategic sourcing strategies

analyze PPV and other department metrics

 

Role Responsibility

Manage the integrity of all site purchasing information held on the company MRP system, including cost and delivery information, ensuring its accuracy at all times

Support the Global Supply Chain team with ongoing development of existing suppliers, activities to include on time delivery adherence, supplier quality development.

Responsible for managing and monitoring inventory targets and turns.

Participating as a critical member of a cross-functional to deliver a new product, service or technology to market.

Developing and implementing supply strategies that sustainably improve the value of materials that support our existing products and businesses both in the short and long term.

Evaluating our current processes and proposing improvements.

Working with quality, manufacturing, and with the suppliers to resolve financial, supply, or quality issues that affect our customers and deliveries.

Participate in multi departmental meetings to help identify new requirements or market trends that will affect future sourcing strategies

Support the Quality and SQA team in the PPAP process and root cause analysis.

Lead cost savings projects to support our departmental and company targets and encourage supplier resourcing when appropriate.

Support the Sales and Operating planning process by analyzing site and supplier capacities and developing production actionable plans

Directing buyers on day-to-day activities to ensure goals are met and long-term plans are on target. 

Develop systems, processes and metrics to drive continuous improvement in the effectiveness of the Supply Chain

Accountable for supplier performance including on-time delivery and quality

Establish action plans for self, direct reports, & others to complete work efficiently by setting priorities, establishing timelines and leveraging resources

Lead organizational strategies through others by developing, leading, & working with cross functional and global teams to drive required change of global cost savings projects & initiatives

Monitor purchase orders to ensure uninterrupted supply of materials and provide detailed action plans when distribution will or has occurred

Work directly with quality to ensure processes and procedures are followed including PPAP and SCARs

Manage staff effectively, ensuring structured development opportunities & successful execution of department strategy

 

The Ideal Candidate

Skills REQUIRED:

Purchasing – Proven procurement skills, including costs negotiations, contractual agreements, quality resolution, and relationship management skills to effectively manage supplier partnerships. Player/Coach willingness to perform all levels of day to day activities. Continuously monitor and manage spend, quality, and deliveries of supply base and provide action plans when appropriate.

Analytical Skills - Demonstrated ability to visualize, formulate concepts and solve problems, utilizing available data and resources to make and/or influence decisions. Utilize logical thinking to capture and analyze information, developing and testing solutions to problems, and formulating implementation plans.

Leadership - Ability to recognize and convey strategic opportunities within your department and across other departments (Sales, Finance, Operations, Production, etc.) Strong ability to hold others accountable and drive performance. Continuous improvement mentality.

Relationship Management - Demonstrated ability to lead high-level interactions with external and internal business partners, suppliers, working effectively across functions, geographies and cultures. Must be able to build relationships and influence others through excellent interpersonal skills. 

Qualifications and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's or master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or similar degree

7+ years’ experience (preferably in Manufacturing) in the following:  procurement, strategic sourcing supplier development and management, completive bidding, industry analysis, supplier analysis, negotiation.

Proven ability to analyze problems, recommend and implement solutions

Supplier sourcing, documentation, evaluation, negotiating and selection

Target driven and proactive hands on approach to team management

Ability to cultivate, understand and anticipate the needs of the customer and to provide effective solutions and recommendations

Capable of challenging existing practices, processes and systems to deliver improvements to benefit the business

Experienced change agent with track record of delivering change effectively

Financial management skills

Experienced in Microsoft Office

Willing to travel (Domestic and Globally)
