Sr. Automation Systems Technician

Position Summary:

Provide functional support to the technical maintenance department to implement, repair and maintain highly complicated precision automated systems and keep our manufacturing systems running at a high level.

Role Responsibility

Duties and responsibilities:

Detect and assess problems: resolve; debug; troubleshoot; to provide solutions to automated systems and robotic breakdowns and reliability issues

Ensure proper safety procedures are always in use and utilized / followed

Perform equipment start- ups and shutdowns, modifications and upgrades on all automation systems

Respond in a timely manner to all issues to ensure productivity and efficiency of automated systems

Provide technical support to improve equipment operations and performance

Maintain all production equipment in good, clean and functioning condition

Apply appropriate preventative maintenance (PM) methods in planned and unplanned maintenance requests

Understand and analyze interactions between all components and systems: mechanical, servo, robotic, electrical

Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition

Understand the operation and programming of programmable controllers (PLC) Rockwell/AB, servo, machine vision and laser marking systems

Assist in implementation of new equipment and sub-assembly systems

Read and understand electrical wiring block and schematics, machine drawings, equipment layout drawings and other associated drawing and resources

Assist in automation systems design, frequent engineering design reviews and factory acceptance testing with systems integrators

Work cooperatively with the Manufacturing team

Other projects as assigned by manager

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

The Ideal Candidate

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate degree in Mechatronics, Factory Automation, Robotics or similar field or equivalent experience

Minimum two years’ experience working with automated systems, mechanical, electrical and/or robotic technical maintenance

Basic robotic knowledge and understanding of functions and programming EPSON, FANUC, UR or similar

Experience with 3-D modeling systems; CREO experience preferred

Familiarity with networking, PC and server

Ability to communicate with Manufacturing management, Engineers and Technicians

Demonstrated technical aptitude and a strong desire for continuous improvement

Ability and willingness to lead and train

Strong attention to detail

Other responsibilities as assigned

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

Lift and move up to 40 pounds without assistance

Must have sharp hearing and ability to discern tones at various levels
