Sr Automation Technician

Job Introduction

Provide functional support to the technical maintenance department to implement, repair and maintain highly complicated precision automated systems and keep our manufacturing systems running at a high level.

Role Responsibility

  • Detect and assess problems: resolve; debug; troubleshoot; to provide solutions to automated systems and robotic breakdowns and reliability issues
  • Work independently with little to no direction to determine and implement corrective actions on equipment and processes
  • Ensure proper safety procedures are always in use and utilized / followed
  • Perform equipment start- ups and shutdowns, modifications and upgrades on all automation systems
  • Respond in a timely manner to all issues to ensure productivity and efficiency of automated systems
  • Provide technical support to improve equipment operations and performance
  • Maintain all production equipment in good, clean and functioning condition
  • Apply appropriate preventative maintenance (PM) methods in planned and unplanned maintenance requests
  • Understand and analyze interactions between all components and systems: mechanical, servo, robotic, electrical
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
  • Understand the operation and programming of programmable controllers (PLC) Rockwell/AB, servo, machine vision and laser marking systems
  • Assist in implementation of new equipment and sub-assembly systems
  • Read and understand electrical wiring block and schematics, machine drawings, equipment layout drawings and other associated drawing and resources
  • Assist in automation systems design, frequent engineering design reviews and factory acceptance testing with systems integrators
  • Work cooperatively with the Manufacturing team

The Ideal Candidate

  • Associate degree in Mechatronics, Factory Automation, Robotics or similar field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years’ experience working with automated systems, mechanical, electrical and/or robotic technical maintenance
  • Basic robotic knowledge and understanding of functions and programming EPSON, FANUC, UR or similar
  • Experience with 3-D modeling systems; CREO experience preferred
  • Familiarity with networking, PC and server
  • Ability to communicate with Manufacturing management, Engineers and Technicians
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and a strong desire for continuous improvement
  • Ability and willingness to lead and train
  • Strong attention to detail
